Community Crime Map
The Town of Addison Police Department (APD) uses a platform called Community Crime Maps to serve as a tool to create awareness of crime in the community.
The pins reflecting reported criminal activity are anonymized for privacy purposes and only represent the initial reported crime. Oftentimes, what actually occurred is different from what was initially reported to Police, but due to data flow and coding issues, the map is not capable of reflecting any changes in the report type that are made after the initial report is submitted. As such, the crime map data is in no way intended as a representation of official crime statistics and is inappropriate for use in crime analysis, litigation, or any other official proceedings. Users interested in official crime statistics for analytical or legal purposes should submit a written Open Records Request.
