OU Fans Converge on Addison During the Red River Showdown

It is Red River Weekend in Addison! Since 2016, the Renaissance Addison Dallas has served as the host hotel for the OU Club of Dallas during the annual Red River Showdown.  The OU Club will hold a Beat Texas Pep Rally at the Renaissance on Friday night that will include performances by The Pride of Oklahoma band and Spirit Squad and photos with the Sooner Schooner and mascots, Boomer and Sooner. A welcome banner over Belt Line Road greets all of the Oklahoma visitors (but frequently inspires calls and comments from unhappy University of Texas fans!).

The economic impact of this partnership with the OU Club is city-wide, and can be felt not only by other Addison hotels, but also area restaurants, as fans from both OU and UT converge on North Texas. The Addison Marketing and Tourism Department supports this collaboration with a yearly sponsorship of $5,000 that goes to local Dallas students interested in attending the University of Oklahoma.

Addison has established similar mutually beneficial relationships with other organizations, such as the Dallas Cup, contributing to a city-wide economic boost.
