It's time for our first food festival of the year, our Citrus Festival, with a special menu featuring Rio Grande Ruby Red grapefruits, Navel and Valencia oranges, Meyer lemons and Key limes.
It is thought that in 1493, Christopher Columbus landed in the Grand Canary Island where he purchased, among other things, orange seeds. In 1513, oranges were introduced to Florida by Ponce De Leon, to California in 1769, and in the 1880's to Texas by early Spanish missionaries.
South Texas' sub-tropical climate is absolutely perfect for growing Texas oranges - sunshine during the day and nights that offer warm tropical breezes coming off the Gulf of Mexico. Sandy loam soil, found in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, also provides all of the necessary elements that the tree roots crave for strength and endurance. The Texas Valencia and Navel oranges that Blue Mesa features during our Citrus Festival are tree-ripened and handpicked to ensure the best quality possible. They are an ingredient in our arugula-Ruby Red grapefruit salad, in our orange sriracha glaze on grilled chicken, and in our ginger chipotle glaze on shrimp. Taste these wonderful oranges and other citrus at Blue Mesa throughout February and March and join us for a Citrus Dinner Buffet on February 22nd sponsored by Gran Centenario Tequila and featuring the Meyer Lemon Mint Margarita.
CITRUS FESTIVAL AND GRAN CENTENARIO BUFFET DINNER

Blue Mesa Grill offers adventuresome dinners to a bold and colorful Southwest. It is a party in the whole restaurant where adults and children can enjoy good food together.
One thing we have learned in our business, it can make you or break you. We serve over 3,000 guests per week and we are only as good as that last meal we served. So the month we celebrate our front line employees, our service staff, like Al makes it happen. Al has been with us since we opened over 20 years ago. We have 15 employees that have been with us ten years or more. We are lucky to have them, and you are too.
We have individual meeting and/or dining rooms that can seat 35-60 people or put two rooms together to seat over 100 people. Please call to reserve any one of our 4 rooms for your next party or event.
