At its August 22 meeting, the City Council approved a contract with Verdunity, a DFW-based urban planning firm, for consulting services related to the 2023 Comprehensive Plan Update. The current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2013 and is due for an update given the changing development patterns, population change, and market shifts Addison has experienced in the last decade. The new plan will set strategic policy direction and action items for how Addison’s built environment may evolve over time. Key policy topics include:

  •  Housing
  • Growth & redevelopment
  • Infrastructure & mobility
  • Social amenities
  • Fiscal sustainability

Community participation is a vital step in the planning process. Verdunity will help Town staff facilitate a community engagement process comprised of in-person meetings, online surveys and numerous other tools to reach a diverse range of Addison residents and business owners.

A crucial part of the engagement process is the creation of a Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC). The Committee will include a dedicated group of 25 Addison residents and business community members. The City Council is looking for applicants who have a desire to work collectively to guide the development of an aspirational vision and sustainable, implementable strategies addressing the broad range of policy issues that the Town will face over the next 20 years.

Interested volunteers can apply to be considered for the CPAC no later than Monday, September 1here.
