This service allows you to opt-in to receive notifications via phone calls, text messaging, e-mail and more based on locations you care about. You can choose to receive notifications about events that may affect your home, workplace, family's schools and more.

    When will it be used?

This system will be used to notify you about imminent threats to health and safety as well as informational notifications that affect your locations or work environments. Administrators will send notifications regarding severe weather, flooding, gas leaks, police activity and more.

Will I still get emergency notifications if I don't sign up?

If you don't create a username and password, you will receive notifications only if you have an ATT landline or if your business is in the Yellow Pages.

  • Firefighters routinely visit the grocery store to buy groceries for the day. Generally, they prepare two meals each shift. Groceries are purchased with their personal money and are not funded by tax payer dollars.

  • All our ambulances (also called Mobile Intensive Care Units, or MICUs) are staffed with two paramedics. However, many emergencies require more than two care providers to handle all the medical equipment it takes to provide the best care possible. A heart attack call is a typical example where several paramedics are necessary to evaluate, treat, lift and transport the patient as quickly and as safely as possible. Each of our engines are staffed with firefighters who are cross-trained as paramedics so it makes sense to send them along with the ambulance on certain types of medical emergencies.

  • We do not allow the scheduling of birthday parties at the fire station. This is due to the possibility of a call for service, which would leave the station unattended.

Midway Road Revitalization

  • We are revitalizing Midway Road from Spring Valley Road to Keller Springs Road.  The project includes:

    • Paving improvements
    • Drainage, water, and sanitary sewer line improvements
    • Traffic signal and street lighting upgrades
    • Landscape and irrigation upgrades
    • 10-foot side path trail on the west side from Spring Valley to Belt Line Road
    • Connecting to the Cotton Belt Trail adjacent to the Wheeler Bridge at Arapaho Road
  • The entire project will take approximately three years to complete (estimated completion 2024).

Construction is slated to begin in late January 2021.  The first phase of the project is the intersection of Midway and Belt Line, which is estimated to take approximately 6 months to complete.  Phase 2 will be improvements from Spring Valley to Belt Line and Phase 3 will be improvements from Belt Line to Keller Springs.

  • Construction is slated to begin in late January 2021.  The first phase of the project is the intersection of Midway and Belt Line, which is estimated to take approximately 6 months to complete.  Phase 2 will be the improvements from Spring Valley to Belt Line and Phase 3 will be the improvements from Belt Line to Keller Springs.  The entire project is scheduled for completion within three years.

  • You can register for email updates here or text Midway to 888-777 to sign up for email updates.  If you have specific questions, please email MidwayInfo@addisontx.gov.  You can find more project details at addisontexas.net/midway.

  • At its December 8, 2020 meeting, the City Council approved a contract with Tiseo Paving Company for construction services.  The Town has hired an internal project management team to help manage the overall construction process.

You can watch the Council's Tiseo award discussion here.

  • As part of the contract, the contractor is required to have all three lanes, in each direction open on Belt Line Road during the event.

  • Construction will require lane closures, but every business will have continuous access to their property throughout the project.  The project sequencing was defined in the proposal to minimize the overall impact to businesses and the traveling public.  Although the overall project may take slightly longer to complete, the impact on any individual property will be greatly reduced.

  • There will be times when utility lines will need to be switched from the old lines to the new lines.  We will coordinate these planned interruptions with customers to schedule a mutually convenient time.

  • There are no planned internet outages as part of this project; however, internet cable locations are typically not clearly marked in the field and buried just below the surface. The contractor will do their best to avoid any interruptions when digging but will address any accidental disruptions as quickly as possible.

  • We are working with our partners at DART to relocate bus stops and explore possible alternate routes.  We will add that information to the project page when it is available.  www.addisontexas.net/midway.

  • As part of the revitalization of Midway Road, the Town is adding a 10-foot wide, ADA compliant, two-way hike and bike trail from Spring Valley Road to the DART Silver Line Trail connection.  In addition to planting new Live Oak and male Chinese Pistache trees, the Town will be adding enhanced landscaping throughout the corridor that consists of either native or adapted plants that have been proven to thrive in Addison, a green space buffer between the street and the trail for enhanced trail safety, and wider medians which offer a better environment for the newly planted trees to grow.

  • In 2018, Addison engaged a professional arborist to evaluate the health of all the trees along Midway Road.  The arborist rated trees based on their health (age, density, deadwood, etc.) and its structure (root issues, internal decay, etc.).  It was his professional opinion that the construction of the trail would negatively impact the trees in front of Greenhill towers, as well other trees along the Midway Road, and recommended they be removed.

  • In addition to planting new Live Oak and male Chinese Pistache trees, the Town will be adding enhanced landscaping throughout the corridor that consists of either native or adapted plants that have been proven to thrive in Addison, a green space buffer between the street and the trail for enhanced trail safety, and wider medians which offers a better environment for the newly planted trees to grow.

The trees the Town installs will have with 3–4-inch radius trunks and be 10-12 feet tall. According to the arborist, this tree size is the optimal size for taking root and growing rapidly in Texas soils and these trees are expected to grow 12-18” a year.  In five years, the trees will be approximately 15’ - 20’ tall and in 10 years they would be 20’ - 27’ tall. Trees will not be replaced on a 1:1 ratio, but rather spaced appropriately to allow them to grow to their full potential.

Addison is planning to adhere to the current horticulture practice regarding Chinese Pistache trees and will only be planting the male species that does not flower.

  • The 10-foot-wide trail envisioned along Midway Road brings the corridor into ADA compliance and allows for two-way hike and bike traffic. It is designed to adhere to the design standards set forth by the American Association of Highway and Traffic Officials (AASHTO) which is not only an industry best practice for trail safety but was also a requirement of the funding agreement with Dallas County for the project.

The trail will begin at Spring Valley Road and become part of a regional trail system when it connects to the trail system being constructed adjacent to the DART Silver Line.  Improving the trail system throughout Addison was a priority voiced by the community in the Town’s 2017 Citizen Survey and more recently as part of the development of a Trails Master Plan.

Municipal Court

  • No, you may retain an attorney but you do not have to have one. As this is a fine only offense the court will not appoint an attorney.

  • Typically only the prosecutor may dismiss a citation. Some citations that are dismissed by the Court are 1) Failure to Provide Financial Responsibility: This citation may be dismissed if the defendant can bring his/her original insurance policy to the Court that shows liability coverage on the date and time that the citation was issued. The policy must have a declarations page that specifies that either the vehicle or defendant was covered on the date and time of the offense. 2) Failure to Display Driver's License: If the defendant can produce a Texas driver's license that was current on the date and time of the offense, the Court may dismiss the citation for this particular offense. 3) Expired Violations: If you are charged with expired drivers license or registration these may be dismissed by the Court.

  • The law provides two alternatives designed to keep citations from adversely affecting your driving record. These programs are Deferred Disposition and Defensive Driving. Deferred Disposition is associated with an administrative fee and a probation period in lieu of the fine. Defensive Driving allows you to pay court costs and an administrative fee, and take a state approved driver's safety course for the dismissal of your citation.

  • Yes, the Court allows you to set up a payment plan for outstanding citations. You may not be eligible for this option if you have previously defaulted on a payment plan. The Court Clerk will give you more detailed instructions on this option upon requesting it at the customer service windows at the Court. If you are unable to pay the fine and cost for any reason you should come to court to explain those reasons to the Judge. A form is online to provide information to the Judge which will be considered in determining whether you should pay.

  • You must file a motion for a continuance stating the reasons you cannot appear. This can be in the form of a letter addressed to the Court.

  • If you are unable to pay the fine and cost for any reason you should come to court to explain those reasons to the Judge. A form is online to provide information to the Judge which will be considered in determining whether you should pay. If you delay you will only make matters worse and you may subject yourself to being arrested because you ignored your promise to appear.

  • Not necessarily. The Judge performs all judicial functions by law and can only delegate clerical duties to the clerks. Therefore all decisions on matters must be decided by a Judge and not the clerk.

Sam's Club Special Area Study

  • This project is the continuation, expansion, and update of a study carried out in 2014 and 2015 by the Town of Addison.  Its focus is the appropriate redevelopment and reuse of the commercial properties at the western frontage of Midway Road, between Belt Line and Hornet Road. This study area includes the former Sam’s Club site, which has since been redeveloped to support the Addison Grove neighborhood. During its March 23 Work Session, Council discussed the Sam's Club Special Area Study that was initiated in 2014.

This study retained the Sam’s Club name in order to maintain a connection to the past work that was performed. As this project advances, it is anticipated that it will be rebranded to reflect the community’s vision for this area.

  • Sams Club Area Map

  • Due to the varied conditions of the study area, redevelopment and adaptive reuse of properties will occur incrementally, over time. To support a cohesive pattern of redevelopment, this study will establish a consensus vision and planning framework that addresses:

    • Desired land use patterns and housing types
    • Street, sidewalk, and trail connectivity
    • Parks, open space, and civic spaces
    • Transitions to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses

The policy recommendations of this study will be used by the Town to guide future land use and zoning decisions, and to identify needed private and public investment in infrastructure and social amenities, such as parks, trails, and civic spaces.

  • The study will be executed in three phases over a six-month period. These phases include:

    • Phase 1 will include an assessment of existing and anticipated demographic, economic, and site conditions and will shape a unified strategic direction for the project that is informed by community input.
    • Phase 2 will introduce potential development concepts that are intended to update and refine past study outcomes, and to provide strategic direction for new additions to the study area.
    • Phase 3 will produce final development concepts and an implementation strategy for the project. A final report document will be shared for public review.

Stakeholder and public engagement will occur throughout the duration of the project, culminating in a public review process with P & Z and City Council.

  • Community involvement is a critical component of this planning process. Opportunities to provide feedback include:

    1. Community Open House Events: The first Open House, which occurred on June 10th, presented the project team’s analysis of current conditions and served as an opportunity for the community to share ideas, concerns and feedback on the future of the area. The second Open House, anticipated for August, will share preliminary recommendations and obtain community feedback so these recommendations can be refined before a final plan is completed.
    2. Project Advisory Committee: The City Council has appointed an Advisory Committee for this project that includes Addison residents as well as property and business owners.  These community members will work together to review the consultant team’s analysis and develop recommendations for the area’s future. The first advisory committee meeting occured on Thursday, June 3rd. The next committee meeting will be on Thursday, August 5th at 6 pm at the Addison TreeHouse.
    3. Online Surveys: There will be two online surveys, also available to any interested person.  The first survey was designed to obtain initial ideas and suggestions about the future of this area.  The second survey will be available around the time of the second Open House and will also focus on obtaining feedback on the study’s preliminary recommendations.
    4. Informal Outreach Activities: Town staff is available to present to community groups and HOA meetings upon request. As the project advances, informal popup engagement events may be executed to supplement formal engagement efforts.
    5. Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council Public Hearings: City leadership will hold public hearings on the study’s recommendations at the conclusion of the planning process. This process is anticipated to begin in late October.
