What is the Emergency Alert Program?

This service allows you to opt-in to receive notifications via phone calls, text messaging, e-mail and more based on locations you care about. You can choose to receive notifications about events that may affect your home, workplace, family's schools and more.

When will it be used?

This system will be used to notify you about imminent threats to health and safety as well as informational notifications that affect your locations or work environments. Administrators will send notifications regarding severe weather, flooding, gas leaks, police activity and more.

Will I still get emergency notifications if I don't sign up?

If you don't create a username and password, you will receive notifications only if you have an ATT landline or if your business is in the Yellow Pages.

What if my phone number or email address changes?

The system is only as good as the information you provide. If your contact information changes, you can always visit your profile and update your information.

Will my contact information be shared with others?

No! The information that you provide will be used only for this Organization for notification purposes. We will not give or sell your contact or location information to any vendor or other organization.

Firefighters routinely visit the grocery store to buy groceries for the day. Generally, they prepare two meals each shift. Groceries are purchased with their personal money and are not funded by tax payer dollars.

All preventative maintenance and repairs are done at the Service Center fleet shop by ASE Certified fleet technicians through a shared services interlocal agreement with the City of Carrollton.

Some management positions have residency requirements of 15 air miles proximity to Addison. However, most jobs do not have that requirement. The entire project will take approximately three years to complete (estimated completion 2024).

Construction is slated to begin in late January 2021.  The first phase of the project is the intersection of Midway and Belt Line, which is estimated to take approximately 6 months to complete.  Phase 2 will be improvements from Spring Valley to Belt Line and Phase 3 will be improvements from Belt Line to Keller Springs.

As part of the contract, the contractor is required to have all three lanes, in each direction open on Belt Line Road during the event.

There will be times when utility lines will need to be switched from the old lines to the new lines.  We will coordinate these planned interruptions with customers to schedule a mutually convenient time.

In 2018, Addison engaged a professional arborist to evaluate the health of all the trees along Midway Road.  The arborist rated trees based on their health (age, density, deadwood, etc.) and its structure (root issues, internal decay, etc.).  It was his professional opinion that the construction of the trail would negatively impact the trees in front of Greenhill towers, as well other trees along the Midway Road, and recommended they be removed.

Typically only the prosecutor may dismiss a citation. Some citations that are dismissed by the Court are 1) Failure to Provide Financial Responsibility: This citation may be dismissed if the defendant can bring his/her original insurance policy to the Court that shows liability coverage on the date and time that the citation was issued. The policy must have a declarations page that specifies that either the vehicle or defendant was covered on the date and time of the offense. 2) Failure to Display Driver's License: If the defendant can produce a Texas driver's license that was current on the date and time of the offense, the Court may dismiss the citation for this particular offense. 3) Expired Violations: If you are charged with expired drivers license or registration these may be dismissed by the Court.

Yes, the Court allows you to set up a payment plan for outstanding citations. You may not be eligible for this option if you have previously defaulted on a payment plan. The Court Clerk will give you more detailed instructions on this option upon requesting it at the customer service windows at the Court. If you are unable to pay the fine and cost for any reason you should come to court to explain those reasons to the Judge. A form is online to provide information to the Judge which will be considered in determining whether you should pay.

No, If a crime took place outside of the City of Addison Police Department please call the police department for that city.

A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime or the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect(s) were in.

No, there is no boating or swimming allowed in Addison's ponds.

Yes, you can.

No person shall ride or use any skateboard within 200 feet of, in, or around a public fountain, pavilion, municipal building, or other city-owned structure. This ordinance does not apply to the Les Lacs Linear Park, which is located in and around the Les Lacs subdivision and at 3901 Beltway in Addison, Texas.

 Addison dog parks are closed one day a week for overall turf health and for weekly maintenance which may include (fertilizer/herbicide application, soil aeration, repair work, and equipment maintenance)  For the safety of your pet, yourself, and the dog park do not enter the park if the gates are locked or signage is placed on the gates identifying the park as closed. 

Parks staff also closes the dog parks immediately after wet conditions to prevent damage to the turf and to allow the soil to dry.

Of course, however per Addison ordinance, all dogs must remain on a leash and you must pick up after your animal. Addison provides pet waste baggies at pet waste stations in each park. Please take only what you need for your walk and dispose of the baggies in a trash receptacle. This is the law.

All Addison parks are open from 5am-11pm.

Since we are not Civil Service, we do not offer Military Service Points. 

Patrol Officers work twelve-hour shifts. Shifts are currently Sunday - Tuesday or Wednesday - Friday; each shift works every other Saturday.

It depends on your schedule and the schedule of the background investigator, but it typically takes a few months. 

No, the Addison Police Department is an At-Will agency. 

The Addison Police Department provides your uniforms, weapon, and almost all of the needed equipment. 

We do periodic Saturday tests, but in order to better accommodate our applicant's work/school schedules, our testing is usually by appointment only. Please contact 972-450-7100 or email policecareers@addisontx.gov for more information and to schedule a test.

You will receive three free false alarms in the preceding 12-month period but will be charged a fine for additional false alarms. If you do not register your alarm, you will be fined $100 for the first false alarm. If you register your system within 30 days of the violation, that fee will be waived.

"A person who owns or exercises control over any dwelling or any business and who desires to operate an alarm system at the dwelling or the business shall obtain a permit to operate the alarm system from the chief of police."

Any dog or cat four months of age or older must be registered with Animal Control. No dog or cat can be registered until it has a current rabies vaccination.

There is a $3.00 fee if your animal is spayed/neutered/under 1 year of age; or a $5.00 fee if the animal is unaltered and over 1 year of age

This can be done by mail or in person at the Addison Police Dept, 4799 Airport Pkwy, 972-450-2845. If mailing, include a check and a copy of the latest proof of vaccination. In person, please provide a check and proof of vaccination.

The study will be executed in three phases over a six-month period. These phases include:

• Phase 1 will include an assessment of existing and anticipated demographic, economic, and site conditions and will shape a unified strategic direction for the project that is informed by community input.
• Phase 2 will introduce potential development concepts that are intended to update and refine past study outcomes, and to provide strategic direction for new additions to the study area.
• Phase 3 will produce final development concepts and an implementation strategy for the project. A final report document will be shared for public review.

Stakeholder and public engagement will occur throughout the duration of the project, culminating in a public review process with P & Z and City Council.
