  • No! We welcome volunteer from all areas.  We have many volunteers from around the DFW metroplex.  We also have volunteers that work in Addison but do not live in Addison.

  • Contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteers@addisontx.gov to express interest and be placed on the email list. Volunteers are e-mailed 1-2 months before events with details of volunteer positions and the times needed.  All volunteers are required to complete a background check (free to volunteer) and sign the volunteer handbook.

  • We have events that work with everyone's schedule!  The time frame will depend on the area of choice. Generally, office opportunities are between the hours of 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday to coincide with the Town’s office hours.  Special events (Taste Addison, Kaboom Town and Oktoberfest) are on the weekends.

  • Yes, we do!  Group projects include cleaning parks, spreading mulch and more.  We work closely with our Parks crew to coordinate outdoor projects.

  • Yes, background checks are required for volunteers.  Exceptions are park cleanups and group projects.  Background checks are free of charge to the volunteer.  Please note that the background check does NOT affect your credit rating.

  • The minimum age to volunteer is 18 years old.

  • Training varies based on the assignment.  Special Event volunteers are asked to come to a pre-event meeting the first time they volunteer. Office volunteers receive instruction from department staff or the volunteer coordinator.
